Novel variant 20E (EU1) was characterized by a spike
mutation
(A222V) as well as amino acid substitutions in the nucleocapsid protein. However, the mutations did not confer any transmission advantage on the variant.
Cluster 20E (EU1) consisting of B.1.177 lineage was designated when a cluster of sequences in Clade 20A showed an additional mutation in spike (S:A222V).

Phylogenetic analysis of two SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences (accession no. EPI_ISL_492181, EPI_ISL_492182) from Arkansas with other GISAID sequences available till 7 July 2020 revealed that both genomes grouped in different subclusters of
clade
G.
Clade G is defined by S protein D614G mutation. The color (clade) of the dots was classified according to the mutation marks from the GISAID database nomenclature

Compared to the SARS-CoV-2 reference genome (MN908947.3), the SARS-CoV-2 Isolate USA/AR-UAMS001/2020 (GISAID accession no. EPI_ISL_492181) had seven mutations. And the genome USA/AR-UAMS002/2020 (GISAID accession no. EPI_ISL_492182) had four mutations.

Thailand
showed that SARS-CoV-2 Cluster type T branched off from Type
S,
predominant in Bangkok during first wave outbreak and showed nucleotide substitutions at position 8782 (C to T) in
ORF1a
region, at position 24047 (G to A) in
S
region and at position 28144 (T to C) in
ORF8
region.
Results indicated that local transmission was due to Type T (Spike protein - A829T).
