A case study in Mexico, of a SARS-CoV-2 positive patient with an acute episode of pychosis as the only symptom. Lab results revealed Hypokalemia K 3.3, elevation of hepatic enzymes -aspartate aminotransferase 53U/L, alanine aminotransferase 69U/L, indirect hyperbilirubinemia and elevated ferritin levels (595ng/mL).

A study among clinical healthcare workers to determine rates of anxiety and depression and the factors associated with their prevalence. The questionnaire included Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10), Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-Item Scale (GAD-7) and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Factors associated with anxiety and depression symptoms were estimated by logistic regression analysis.The database was constructed by using EpiDate3.1 and analyzed by SPSS 25.0.

103 COVID-19 patients were screened for 13 subjective neurological symptoms along with anxiety and depression as a major focus. Depression and anxiety are frequent symptoms in patients with SARS-CoV2 infection needing careful medical evaluation and follow-up. Moreover, counteracting these neuropsychological symptoms can improve the reaction to the infection and can need of specific treatments in order to improve the possibility of rehabilitation and recovery.

A comparative study of immediate stress and psychological impact experienced by people with and without psychiatric illnesses during the peak of SARS-CoV-2 infection confirms the severity of negative psychological impact on psychiatric patients. The following questionnaires were used: 1. Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) to measures posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in survivorship during COVID-19 pandemic. ( scores 18-23- PTSD like symptoms, > 24- diagnosis of PTSD) 2. Mental health status was measured using the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). 3.The sleep quality of respondents was measured using the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). (Scores of 8-14 corresponds to subthreshold insomnia,15- 21 corresponds to moderately severe clinical insomnia and scores of 22-28 corresponds to severe clinical insomnia.)

A survvey of 217 hospitalized patients to predict a possible delayed post-viral sequelae of COVID-19 and possible mechanisms behind the development of these neuropsychiatric symptoms. Anti-CoV antibodies have been identified in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of individuals with Parkinsons disease. Neural and immune cells can serve as reservoirs of latent CoV and thus could contribute to delayed neurodegenerative processes . Can be speculated that SARS CoV- 2 precipitates affect the gut microbial composition that could lead to pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric symptoms via the gut-brain axis.
